About<\/strong>: The war on weed is a total buzzkill\u2014it\u2019s outdated, expensive, and everyone knows it doesn\u2019t work. While other countries are cashing in on legal cannabis, Aussies are still getting criminal records for owning a plant. It\u2019s time to flip the script, and the Greens are here to make it happen.<\/p>\n

Join us for a chat on how we can finally legalise cannabis in Australia\u2014and why the Greens are leading the charge. Greens Senator and Justice Spokesperson David Shoebridge has a fully costed plan to make it happen, ensuring a safe and well-regulated market that benefits everyday Australians instead of organised crime.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the Greens introduced laws to legalise cannabis, but the major parties voted them down\u2014ignoring public support and the clear benefits of reform. But this isn\u2019t the end. Momentum is growing, and with enough public pressure, we will make legal cannabis a reality.<\/p>\n

Legal cannabis means safer products, no more pointless arrests, and a fairer system. Under the Greens\u2019 plan, you\u2019ll be able to buy it from licensed dispensaries and cafes or grow up to six plants at home. No more dodgy deals\u2014just a safe, smart, and chill industry with an emphasis on quality and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Imagine walking into a dispensary and choosing from a range of fair trade, organically grown cannabis\u2014free from harmful pesticides and produced by ethical, small-scale farmers. The Greens\u2019 plan prioritises locally grown, high-quality cannabis that supports Aussie jobs while ensuring consumers know exactly what they\u2019re getting.<\/p>\n

Bio<\/strong>: David Shoebridge is a Greens Senator for NSW and is the Australian Greens spokesperson on justice, digital rights, defence and veterans and migration. Before he joined the Senate he was an MP in the NSW Parliament and the chair of the Public Accountability Committee. As the Australian Greens Justice Spokesperson he brought the first ever bill to legalise cannabis at a national level to the Australian Parliament. This was voted down by Labor and the Coalition at the end of 2024 but more is planned in 2025. His office created the Sniff Off campaign and Facebook page which has now for a decade been advising people in NSW of locations of drug dogs being used to justify invasive strip searches.<\/p>\n
