Alan Salt (WebHead)
Cancer Water Dragon of 58 years. Born in North Adelaide and
raised in the Mid North of South Australia. Matriculated in
'69. Went to Uni to become a teacher, studying Drama, Philosophy
and English. Initially thought LSD would change the world but
by late 1971 was serving three months in Gladstone (South Australia)
Goal for possession of an ounce of cannabis. Dropped out of
University the year after.
He attended the first Aquarius Festival in Canberra. In Easter
1974 he went to Nimbin on a Ducati 750GT and promptly bought
a $200 share in the Tuntable Falls Co-Operative after two days
there. A long learning experience followed on why we have private
property and how to build timber houses.
In 1989 he spent six months in Grafton Goal for the deemed
supply of three pounds of cannabis leaf. After that spent a
lot of time building, extending and repairing houses in the
Nimbin area.
Largely responsible for the ongoing restoration/refurbishment
of the Tomato Sauce Building, home of the HEMP Embassy, he lives
in the village of Nimbin doing the websites and IT Support for
that same Embassy and acting as night watch for the building.
Gave up smoking everything in April 2010, but remains an advocate
of cannabis law reform. An automotive enthusiast, and keen motorcyclist
in past years, he is currently addicted to computers.
These days, when wearing his Embassy hat, he signs himself
