HEMP Building tips
and advice with Duuvy
Anti-bacterial, high insulation, thermal, CO2 absorbing, fire
resistant, breathable, rodent resistant, excellent acoustic
isolation, no kiln baking required, no toxins released during
decomposition. What is this all about? These terms are all
very nice, but what are they referring to? These my friends,
are only some of the qualities inherent in the world that
is hemp masonry. Last year we started what is going to be
somewhat of an outdoor, stonehenge-esk entertainment area
which will be made from recycled and natural materials. 'hemphenge'
if you will. Earthship methods are being applied with hemp
being used as the primary finishing material. The courtyard
will be used as a volunteers retreat during MardiGrass as
well as a multi-purpose venue for the Nimbin community. During
MardiGrass, come and learn about earthships in the subtropics
at the 'hemphenge' site (its behind the HEMP Embassy in the
corner of Plantem Park). The talks will be held by local earthship
builder, Duuvy Jester on Sat and Sunday at 1pm. Find out how
you can adapt this versatile design concept for where you
live. Hope to see you all there! -- Duuvy Jester Terraeden

Alchemy 101 - How
to make your own Medicine
Speakers: Tony
Bower, Andrew Katelaris, Radic-Al
Tinctures are not
new. Until cannabis was banned in the 1930s, tinctures were
the primary type of cannabis medicines. Tinctures are essentially
extractions of active cannabinoids from plant material, and
are easy and inexpensive to make. Join us for a discussion
of various techniques, as well as important tips and advice.
1pm
Treating serious illness
with Cannabis
Speakers: Tony
Bower, Angela, Andrew Katelaris
This panel will discuss the importance of
cannabis as a life saving medicine for a range of serious
illnesses including epilepsy, cancer, Crohns
disease, and multiple sclerosis. Featuring researchers, doctors
and patients, this panel provides a wide range of knowledge
and experience in treating serious illness with cannabis.
2.30pm
Plant Freedom and
the Regulation of Herbal Medicines
Speakers: Jayne Azzopard, David McLeod, Kirby Rogers,
Ray Thorpe
We will look at how the regulation of herbal medicines is conducted in Australia,
and examine the role and impact of the Therapeutic Goods Administration
(TGA) on access plant medicines. This panel will explore folk
tradition and continuation of cultural heritage: the community's
right to grow, make and share medicines, pass on generational
knowledge, including the competency to medicate ourselves
based on long term knowledge - particularly via indigenous
traditions. Speakers will discuss how herbal medicine traditions
come into conflict with contemporary capitalist-industrial
society, and who exactly has medical authority. Is regulation
really about protecting people? Or are there vested interests
and hidden agendas? With the juggernaut of medical cannabis
sweeping the USA and other parts of the world, we will look
at the future of cannabis as a legal herbal medicine in Australia.

Why is Australia years
behind? Global Change in Cannabis Politics
Facilitator: Steve Bolt
Speakers: Rob Bruce, Gabe Buckley, Glen
Druery, John Jiggens,
Peter Livesey, Jason Woodforth
Medical marijuana has transformed drug politics in the
United States over the last 15 years with the states of
Colorado and Washington going one step further in 2014 to
legalize recreational cannabis consumption. Also making
history for recreational users is legalization in Uruguay
in December 2013. It seems that the tipping point of change
in drug politics has started to happen internationally,
so where does Australian drug policy currently sit with
this issue? This panel will discuss the pros and cons around
the approach of "tax, regulate and control" recreational
cannabis. Will this simply be another government and corporate
incursion into our private lives? And is cannabis law reform
alone effective? Without legalizing all illicit drugs, cannabis
law reform alone may do little to stop the violence, corruption
and injustice that is the drug war.
2:30 pm * The Rally is on, starting at the

CANNABIS LAW REFORM RALLY
The Parade this year will gather inside the western
car park near the exit and led by the Widjibal Elders of the
Bunjalung Nation, with children holding the Koori flag, make
its way south along Cullen street to the Police Station where
it will turn left and head down Cecil Street and around to Sativa
Stadium for the Cannabis Law Reform Rally, speeches and presentations.
Sometimes the parade might stop while the Ganja Faeries up front
do a brief performance. This keeps the parade from being too
hasty and allows the crowd a better opportunity to take it all
in. Everyone wait behind the BIG JOINT until the procession
continues. No rush. Percussionists who have not been practicing
with the Ganja Faerie troupe are asked to form a second Drumming
Troupe, further back in the parade to provide a continuing accompaniment
for the parade. People are asked not to occupy the space between
the Ganja Faeries and the first group of Drummers.
When we finish the march
there will be short speeches by Bundjalung Elders, Kerrianne
Cox, Jason Woodforth, Steve Bolt, Dr Andrew Katelaris, Michael
Balderstone, Jim Moylan and not too many more! Parade Float
prizes will be awarded before the busker who collects the
most Tokes starts the final event:

5:00pm Essie Thomas
6:00pm The Doobies

"This is our twenty second
consecutive annual Rally for Cannabis Law Reform. We vowed to
Rally every year on the first Sunday in May until we are no
longer criminals for using this herb. Last year's Australia
21 Report says, "...we are making criminals of our kids". For
over three decades they have been picking on the pot smokers
in Nimbin with very expensive operations which have made little
or no difference other than to create more young people with
criminal records for life. Building more jails is a primitive
approach to what is obviously a health and social issue."
