For those who wish to be a MardiGrass volunteer:
If you cannot afford a pass or just want to contribute to the
cause, you can register as a volunteer at the Hemp Embassy.
We need help from as early as a few weeks before, so if you
want to be part of the preparations, please get in touch:
Email: head@hempembassy.net
Phone: 02-6689 0326
In person: @ Hemp Embassy shop, 51 Cullen
Street, Nimbin
The important thing is that we need volunteers BEFORE the event
more than we need them during. Also, we will probably have as
many as needed by the time the event starts.
Speaking reasonable English is necessary and a willingness
to work. We don’t want people who want to sit around smoking
all day!
For camping a bedroll and sleeping bag are minimum kit, a tent
would be very handy! The nights are starting to get cold at
MardiGrass time so make sure you bring warm clothing and whatever
else you need in case it rains.
Volunteer jobs are varied and according to the needs of the
moment. They can include fence and barricade construction, painting
banners and signs, clearing the site, rubbish collection, kitchen
work, erecting marquees and tents, building and setting up stages,
constructing big joints and rolling smaller ones. Cooks and
electricians and artists are especially welcome. email some
details, skills etc: head@hempembassy.net
Volunteers...bring your own bowl and mug if you can!

Thank you for your interest in being part of MardiGrass 2016!
We're always keen to hear from friendly and positive people
who want to assist cannabis law reform. MardiGrass wishes to
extend a welcome and many thanks for those who donate their
time during this event. Without you it could not happen!
Volunteering requirements
vary depending on the task but average around 12 hours of work
before, during or after the festival. The volunteer application
form shows the range of volunteering positions on offer. If
you have volunteered in the past and want to be part of the
same team, get in touch early and list your preference.
We recommend getting in early as most positions are usually
filled well before MardiGrass.
This year MardiGrass
falls on Friday 29th April, Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st
of May, but (as always) it really kicks off many weeks earlier.
We need volunteers from 1 April onwards! Particularly help with
site preparation. So if you have those skills, we would love
to hear from you NOW!
Volunteer jobs are varied and according to the needs of the
moment. They can include fence and barricade construction, rubbish
collection, erecting marquees and tents, setting up stages,
painting signs, and anything else that needs to be done to make
MardiGrass happen successfully.
If you would like
to volunteer, then you will need to bring all of your own camping
materials, etc. You must bring enclosed footwear and a hat.
For camping a bedroll and sleeping bag are minimum kit. The
nights are starting to get cold at MardiGrass time so make sure
you bring warm clothing and whatever else you need in case it
rains. Bring your own bowl and mug if you can!
The Jungle Patrol is a local volunteer organisation that patrol
the streets, encourage people to keep the peace, and bear witness
when they do not. The Jungle Patrol cannot enter an affray,
but will encourage a peaceful resolution to any disturbance.
If there is an incident, it is witnessed, and aid is rendered
after the event if necessary. Jungle Patrol members will be
able to contact the Police if the situation warrants it.
The Jungle Patrol grew from the volunteer groups of early MardiGrass
celebrations.
If you think you can be that, volunteer!
The Jungle Patrol
will be providing visitor information, crowd safety, primary
first aid, event communications and security/police liaison.
If you need help during the event don't hesitate to ask.
For those who came in late....
Jungle Patrol operates from
Friday 8am through to early Monday morning and people are urged
to sign up for two four hour shifts.
