11 am : Book Launch – “The Joke”

About: In the 1970s, Australian cannabis laws were further Americanised and the possession and growing of cannabis became major crimes. The rationale was said to be to get the Mr Bigs of the drug trade, who had recently murdered an Australian politician named Donald Mackay. But since these gangsters were protected by corrupt police forces and secret police, the laws were used instead against a string of Mr and Ms Smalls, while Mr Big transformed himself into ‘the man who ran Australia’. Former NSW Special Branch detective, John Wesley Egan, who turned a group of NSW detectives into one of the biggest importers of heroin into the US, summed it up. He quipped, “Major organised crime figures and senior police officers are often the same people.” The Joke ruled.
12.30 pm : How Cannabis helps the Body Heal

About: Cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 are designed by the body to be specific targets for THC, while our natural endocannabinoids help to synthesize it. The process of THC-cannabinoid receptor binding and what this does for the body is what researchers have been studying for over two decades. They are doing this in order to find out exactly how cannabis works in healing cancer.
1.45 pm : Cannabis and Sport

About: Based on what we know about the endocannabinoid system, and the therapeutic effects of medicinal cannabis, Carolyn will discuss the ways cannabis can potentially benefit the athlete, and anyone else trying to stay active and healthy for that matter.
2.30 pm : Legalise Cannabis Party Meeting

5.30 pm : Book Launch – “Cancer My Greatest Teacher” and many aspects of healing

About: ‘Sometimes disease is not about disease, sometimes it is about what we need to heal in our lives, and it can take us on a journey of self-discovery — if only we are willing to take that path. Healing occurs on many levels and comes from many sources. Healing is our own responsibility; other people, including doctors, can only guide us.’ Cancer, My Greatest Teacher follows Dr Towpik on her journey through cancer, and how she found an inner strength she never knew she possessed in dealing with the cancer. Dr Towpik takes readers on a journey through her life from her early years in Poland through to the moment she discovered the life-changing lump. Dr Towpik is forced to confront not only the disease itself but also all the other aspects of her life that needed to be healed. ‘Cancer got me on my knees, made me humble and humiliated, and it made me investigate my existence and mortality. I was forced to question who I am, and this ultimately led me to create other experiences in my life.’ Cancer, My Greatest Teacher is a powerful narrative of a woman who confronts her fears and embraces cancer as her guru and guide.
6.30 pm : Psilocybin Mushrooms – Eliminating the Harms

About: This presentation will cover how to identify ‘Gold Tops/Cubes’ or ‘Pans/Blue Meanies’, and includes numerous photos of each in situ, but also ‘Four Golden Rules‘ necessary for ensuring correct identification of these elusive fungi. Environments and climatic conditions are discussed, as well as an overview of mushroom use throughout history and advocates from the last fifty years.
8 pm : MDMA & Microdosed Psilocybin: Illegal medicines that work

About: Bek will share her real life experience of treating and managing both complex and combat post traumatic stress and explains why she subscribes to a heuristic model for mental health care, over a pharmaceutical prescription.
9 pm : Fungi Film Festival
