Thank you for your interest in running a market stall at Nimbin MardiGrass 2025! We encourage any interested stalls to apply as early as possible. MardiGrass always fills our markets area to capacity, and we expect the same for 2025.

ALL market stalls, including food stalls, are within the ticketed area: the dedicated MardiGrass venue PLANTEM PARK, behind the HEMP Embassy and Town Hall, featuring the HEMP Olympix, music, comedy and other entertainment in Sativa Stadium. The park also hosts Indica Arena which is an educational space featuring Hemposium talks, the Industrial Hemp Expo, and medican advice and information.

  • Stall spaces will be marked out and tagged for each stall holder to outline your allocated
  • Please do not encroach on your neighbour’s stall Any special placement requests must be made to the market stalls coordinator before the event.

Food Stalls

All food stalls need to submit their NSW FSS certificate and Lismore City Council Food Permit details in order to operate a food stall at Nimbin Mardigrass.

  • We are not able to accept applications from food stalls without these NSW permits.
  • QLD or other state FSS certificates are not relevant and out of area food stalls take time for LCC to process.

Lismore City Council requires a list of food stalls 6 weeks before event, so the application deadline for food stalls is 15 March 2025.

  • Stalls bringing cool rooms must confirm that you are bringing a cool room by 31 March 2025. If you turn up on the day with a cool room without telling us, you won’t be able to set up the cool room.
  • Food stalls must bring at least 4 x20L wastewater containers, which are emptied as needed by waste crew into designated commercial grease traps.
  • Food stalls should provide biodegradable

We also prefer food stalls which use hemp ingredients. With a new MardiGrass DA and many more food stall enquiries than sites available, we have revised our food vendors policy, and preference will be given to those applicants that fulfill the following criteria:

  • Promote and use hemp seed, oil and other hemp ingredients (now legal!)

  • Locally owned (or containing locally grown produce) within the Northern Rivers region

  • Doesn’t duplicate permanent Nimbin village food businesses

  • Promotes healthy food

  • Self contained/ no power or very low power consumption

  • Regular Nimbin market stallholders

  • Returning/ regular MardiGrass supporters

  • Zero or minimum waste. Only compostable/ recycled packaging

  • No Coca Cola/Amatil products or bottled water

Power Supply and Electrical Safety

  • Stalls with cool rooms are charged more for their stall space to compensate for significant energy consumption.
  • If you’re also using other high-current items like fryers or bain maries, please make sure that you let us know in the application form.
  • As a standard safety measure, all appliances and leads must be tested and tagged before use at the event.
  • Any electrical appliances not compliant with the test and tag process must be removed from the market stall site.
  • Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to discontinuation of power
  • Please bring 50m of extension lead per line of power you need and any required power boards for your stall.
  • Please make sure that you have large cable ties to affix cords to your stall. Power leads cannot be threaded through marquee frames but must be loosely suspended by cable ties so they can be easily removed in an emergency.
  • Please make sure that you minimise the amount of electricity you use.
  • Choose lower electricity lights rather than spotlights. Halogen lights or flood lights will not be allowed. There are plenty of reasonable alternatives.
