ARRIVAL OF KOMBI KONVOY a convoy of 50 VW vans is Nimbins annual
salute to its hippie pioneers. Assembles 4.30 pm at the Conservatorium, Lismore,
(inquiries 6664 1313) and led into Nimbin by the HEMP Olympix torch. |

MARDI GRASS OPENING CEREMONY a tribal ceremony which begins the hemp harvest
celebrations. Guest of honour Dennis Peron, will light the Flame of Remembrance for
victims, prisoners and casualties of the War on Drugs. An effigy of the demon of Zero
Tolerance will be burned. The ceremony will conclude with an exultant limbo under the hemp
stalk led by dance group, Ganga Fairies. |
