John Howard was a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Director
of the Social Health Programs, Department of Psychology at Macquarie
University.
He is a Visiting Honorary Research Fellow at NDARC, University
of New South Wales and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the
Dept. of Adolescent Psychiatry, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney.
He regularly consults to the World Health Organisation�s Department
of Child and Adolescent Health and Development and Program in
Substance Abuse, UNESCAP, UNICEF Australia and the Arab Council
on Childhood and Development (Cairo), especially in relation to
street youth/children in developing countries and the health of
male adolescents.
His major clinical, teaching and research areas include: adolescent
substance use, depression and suicide in young people, working
with marginalised youth, �street youth�, adolescent psychotherapy,
gay youth, HIV infection in adolescents and resilience.
He has published widely in relation to youth and substance use.
Dr Howard has been working with the Ted Noffs Foundation since
November 2000.
